Dubuque's
Colt
Cadets Accepting New Members
Posted 15 February
2010
The Colt Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps will begin their 2010 season on
Sunday, February 21 from 1-5 pm at Thomas Jefferson Middle School (1105
Althauser Street, Dubuque). All interested students and parents are
invited to an informational meeting from 1-2:15 pm. Rehearsal will
begin following the meeting and will last until 5 pm. All students are
welcome to watch or participate.
Membership in Colt Cadets is open to any young person in middle school
or high school. No prior experience in music, dance, marching, or band
is required. There is no charge to attend.
All instruments and instruction are provided. The rehearsal is run as a
free clinic for interested students.
The Colt Cadets were founded in 1967 and are one of only three cadet
corps remaining in the country. In 2010, the Colt Cadets will perform
in 7 states throughout the Central United States. The Cadets will
finish their season in August at the Drum Corps International World
Championships in Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN (home of the
Indianapolis Colts).
The Colt Cadets will perform several times locally, including the Colts
annual Music on the March on Wednesday, June 30 and at Music on the
March II on Sunday, August 8. Appearances will also be scheduled at the
Arboretum and Eagle Point Park.
No advance registration or RSVP is required. A second open rehearsal
will be held on Sunday, Feb 28 at the same time and location for anyone
unable to attend the opening event.
More information can be obtained by calling the Colts office
