Named
Released of Woman Killed in Accident
Posted 26 June 2008
Authorities have released the name of the woman killed Tuesday, June
24, in a four-vehicle accident on Highway 20 near Menards in Dubuque.
Andrea Trilk, 56, of Dubuque, was killed in the accident. Trilk was a
passenger in a vehicle heading west on Highway 20 driven by Margaret
Swartz, 56, of Dubuque.
Swartz was turning left into the Menards parking lot shortly after 3
p.m. Tuesday afternoon when her vehicle was struck broadside by a
vehicle heading east on Highway 20 driven by Brenda Allman, 55, of
Guttenberg, police said.
Law enforcement authorities said Swartz's vehicle was then pushed into
a vehicle stopped in the Menards drive. The driver, Judith Davis, 47,
of Dubuque, was waiting at the intersection to enter Highway 20,
according to police.
The force of that collision pushed Davis's vehicle backward, striking a
fourth vehicle also waiting to enter the highway, according to the
official report. James Bodish, 35, of Dubuque was the driver of the
fourth vehicle. Neither Davis nor Brodish were injured in the accident.
Swartz and Allman were taken to Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque for
treatment of injuries. Information on their conditions is unavailable.
The accident closed eastbound lanes of Highway 20 for about three hours
Tuesday afternoon.
