Alliant
Creates Scholarship for NICC
Posted 13 June 2008
The Alliant Energy Foundation is establishing a new scholarship for
NICC Gas Utility and Construction program students. Three $1,000
Alliant Energy scholarships will be awarded annually to students
entering or currently enrolled in the program. Through the coordination
of the NICC Foundation, the funds will be available to qualifying
students each fall.
The Alliant Energy Foundation is an independent, non-profit
philanthropic corporation funded by Alliant Energy shareowners. Alliant
Energy is one of the sponsors of NICC’s Gas Utility and Construction
program. This two-year associate in applied science degree program
prepares students to install, maintain and operate natural gas
distribution systems. Program graduates will be qualified to enter a
high-demand field in one of the most technologically intensive
industries in today's economy.
“The Alliant Energy Foundation’s financial support of NICC students
enrolled in this unique program will provide the assistance our
students need to successfully complete their degree and enter the
energy field. By teaming up with Alliant Energy, NICC also received
program curriculum and design input to launch this degree option for
students,” said Barb O’Hea, NICC associate director for the foundation.
