Julien
Dubuque Bridge Reopens
Posted 11 June 2008
After being closed about 18 hours, the Julien Dubuque Bridge was
reopened yesterday, Tuesday, June 10, after officials deemed the
structure's integrity to be intact.
A runaway barge, possibly affected by high and turbulent flood waters
on the Mississippi, struck one of the bridge's cement piers Monday,
June 9, forcing officials to close the bridge to vehicle traffic while
checking for damage. None was found and the bridge continues to be safe
for traffic.
